Background:
-
Dr. Orfeo received his PhD in 1987 from the Cell and Molecular Biology Program at the University of Vermont. His graduate work involved investigating potential physiologic roles for classes of esterases present in liver and muscle. He then worked on projects at the University of Vermont involving endothelial cell regulation of coagulation and fibrinolysis in response to anoxia/reperfusion injury or traumatic force and the regulation of transcription in Acanthamoeba. He joined the laboratory of Dr. Kenneth G. Mann in 1999 and has since worked on a number of projects studying the enzymatic mechanisms and regulatory pathways of blood coagulation.
